Ironman are a sports & outdoor equipment brand that are well known in the fitness market for producing exercise machines that offer very good value in terms of features and accessories. Their low to mid price range models make them very suitable for people who are looking for their first treadmill.

The Ironman treadmill brand is owned by the US based company Keys Fitness. Although Key Fitness have only been producing the treadmills for little over ten years they have been producing other fitness and exercise equipment for many years. As well Ironman they are also responsible for producing a number of other brands that include Encore and Alliance.

Pros

The main pro for the ironman exercise treadmill trainer is obviously the price. They are getting a popular reputation for producing machines with decent features for very affordable prices for the entry market. Their Ironman 320t treadmill which currently retails at just under $1000 was comparable in features to other brands costing $1300 and more. 

Keys Fitness have also a reputation for using quality parts in their electric treadmill machines. Another strong point is that many of the models have folding mechanisms to enable you to fold them away for extra space as well as wheels attached to the base making them very portable.

Also, they look good. They have an attractive aerodynamic design with a sleek and racy look. The monitor displays are pretty decent with options to monitor your distance, calories burned, heat rate, running speed and incline.

Their models work perfectly with the ironman treadmill mat which adds a layer of protection so that the heavy treadmill or elliptical trainer does not scuff your floor also, they add traction which helps to stop the treadmill from slipping.

Cons

The Ironman brand is a relative newcomer to the treadmill market therefore, there is not a lot of history about their products in terms of customer feedback about reliability, quality and performance of their fitness products. Although the company is a US company based in Texas most of their manufacturing of the Ironman treadmill parts and components are outsourced to China. For some people this may be an issue in terms of the quality parts used, the standard of manufacturing and the speed of repairs.  

The warranty and guarantee is a good indication of the manufacturers confidence in their product. Although the Ironman fitness treadmill range is not at the top end of the market compared to other brands like Precor or Schwinn they offer a basic to average warranty that includes either one or two year on parts depending on the model and one year on labor. The frame is covered by a lifetime warranty and ten years for the belt motor.

Final Thoughts

As relative newcomer to the party the Ironman fitness treadmill has gate crashed onto the fitness scene with a range of very affordable treadmills with decent features and accessories. Although the jury is still out on their pedigree to compete with the big boys and questions about manufacturing quality, the Ironman treadmill is set to have a very bright future.
