Golds gym have been producing treadmills for a quite a while. They have a reputation for making entry level treadmills at an affordable price. This was the their main advantage over their competitors with comparable products. Over recent years their prices have increased which in some respects has lessen the attractiveness of this particular brand.

The Gold gym treadmill brand has quite a high profile as the company has been associated with many celebrities. The brands began through building a chain of gyms throughout the world then they expanded into selling their own range of exercise and fitness products. Currently they are sold under licence from ICON Health & Fitness who are the one of the biggest distributors of fitness equipment. They have a portfolio of many brands that you may be familiar with such as Proform, Nordic Track and Reebok that are sold through a variety of sports & fitness stores

Positives 

Golds gym treadmill machines start out at around $400  for their basic model whereas their most expensive machines begin at around $1500. For the price you get plenty of features. Recently they have released a new range of treadmills that deliver good value for the price.

Negatives

As Gold gym treadmills are budget machines they would not be recommended for people who are serious about their training. The reason why they are so cheap especially the cheaper models is because the parts and components would not be of the quality to standup to the punishment of daily intensive workouts.  Also the motors will have less power to maintain the maximum speed for any length of time. This makes a lower end  electric treadmill more suitable to walking that running. For running you need to consider the more expensive Gold's gym treadmill models. You will also find that with entry level models the warranty period on labor and part is not very long.

Golds gym 550 treadmill

The 550 model is one of Gold gyms lower priced models at just under $500. It features a 2.75 motor drive belt that can produce a maximum speed off 10 mph. However, it would not be recommended to go full out on the max for any length of time. The 550 also comes with an incline, heart rate monitor with a weight capacity of 275 pounds. The 550 comes with an impressive display monitor which displays the time, distance and pulse rate control while your workout. There are also up to 12 workout programs to choose from. The console on the Golds gym treadmill 550 includes an IPOD compatible music system that allows you listen to your favorite tunes while you workout. This is a fold away design which is convenient if you have limited space. The warranty is 10 years on the motor and 90 days on parts and labor.
